Is Ticking the Box enough?
Are Christians a majority in New Zealand? It’s an interesting question to ponder. If you look at the last census figures then the answer is yes; 57% of New Zealanders identify with one Christian denomination or another. On Sunday April 13 we celebrated Harvest Festival. Home made jams, vegetables and a variety of fruit from local gardens, a couple of red cod caught in the harbour the night before, and seedtrays planted out by our young people, filled the foyer of the church, and added to the festive atmosphere. Harvest is a time to give thanks to God for the gifts of the earth and for us to consider ways to share our bounty with others. The money raised from this year’s service will go to mission projects we support overseas.
